學術口語報告的架構基本上和文章寫作一樣都可以分為三大部分：1.前言（introduction）、2.本文（Body）、3.結語（Conclusion）。如果拿研究論文寫作的結構來比較，口語報告的前言等於是論文寫作的緒論（Introduction），本文較接近論文的文獻探討（Literature Review）、研究方法（Research Methods）和研究結果（Research Results），而結語就好比是論文的結論（Conclusion）。兩者的內容和組織大同小異，只是口語和書面語的表達媒介各有特性和傳播效果。
1.前言
前言主要用以介紹整個報告的主題目的和架構，引起觀眾的興趣或注意，並讓他們了解這個主題為什麼很重要。還可以再細分為開場白（opening）和議程（agenda）兩個階段，今日轉載單元將介紹開場白，明日再就議程說明。
開場白
開場時講者首先要宣布報告即將開始，也可以用打招呼（greeting）的方式引起觀眾的注意以準備聆聽報告。之後講者再致歡迎辭（welcoming remarks）、簡單地自我介紹（brief self-introduction），包括自己的名字、職稱和代表的學校或機構，以及表達自己參與這個會議的喜悅情緒。常用的句型如下：
打招呼宣布開始報告
■Good morning/ afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
早安╱午安，各位先生╱女士。
■Good morning to you all.
各位早安。
■Perhaps we should begin the presentation.
也許我們應該開始報告了。
致歡迎辭
■Welcome to my presentation.
歡迎來參加我的報告。
■Thank you for your time this morning.
感謝各位上午撥空出席。
■Thank you for your interest in my presentation.
感謝各位對我的報告有興趣。
自我介紹
■My name’s Posen Liao. I am currently an Associate Professor at National Taiwan Normal University.
我的名字是廖柏森，目前是國立臺灣師範大學的副教授。
