黃河遠上白雲間， The wild Yellow River rises to the faraway white cloud.

一片孤城萬仞山。 The lone Great Wall stretches to the mountains, tall and proud.

羌笛何須怨楊柳， Why must Hu flutes nag no willows grow?

春風不度玉門關。 Beyond the Gate of Jade, spring wind will not blow. 

PS. I just returned from a twelve-day tour to the Hexi Corridor. The relics site of the Gate of Jade is one of the must-sees. There I encountered a whole band of students from a local junior high, who recited the famous poem by different classes, one by one, beneath a giant monument that inscribes the poem. So impressive.
