「如下所述…」以as follows表達是慣用法，但許多人常誤寫成*as following，需多加注意。也可用the following來表達「如下」或「如後」的意思，不過之後所接動詞該用單數或複數則要視其對應的名詞而定，如下例：

(1) The following is an instance of…

以下是…的實例

(2) The following are examples of…

以下是…的實例
