這首由黑人盲歌手雷查爾斯 (Ray Charles)
灌錄的鄉村歌曲在1962年的流行歌排行榜上
高踞冠軍寶座長達五個星期之久。
在BMI統計的二十世紀最受歡迎的一百首流行名曲中，
也高居第四十名，
算是經典之作。

這首歌的原唱者，也是作曲者是
鄉村歌手唐吉卜森 (Don Gibson)，
但是吉卜森在1958年自己灌錄的版本
並沒有真正的走紅。

1962年雷查爾斯計劃推出一套“現代版”的鄉村歌曲精選，
他的經紀人和唱片公司都不贊成，
認為雷查爾斯的歌迷都是R&B和藍調迷，
讓雷查爾斯唱鄉村歌曲未免太冒險。
但是又不好違背這棵公司搖錢樹的意思，
勉為其難的收集了150首
過去二十年鄉村歌曲的精華，
這首“I Cant Stop Loving You”即是其中之一，
結果雷查爾斯一聽到此曲，就愛不釋手。
一直到專輯完成，此曲並發行了單張，
公司的人都還抱著懷疑的態度，
沒想到真的一炮成功，紅了半邊天。
