台大的眾多社團裡，登山社是很受歡迎的一個，
團員的向心力特別強，不管相差幾屆，
也不管有沒有同時在杜鵑花城待過，
只要知道對方是登山社的，
就立即以家人相待。
這首《榛樹林之歌》可以說是他們的代表歌，
每次聚會或是紀念式，只要有一個人唱起來，
大家就會齊唱跟上，很是感人。

它的歌詞在英文中有兩個版本，
分別由Thomas Oliphant 和 John Oxenford 所作。
