也陸續於國際地區有了知名度

只是進軍美國卻鎩羽而歸

 

１９８２年５月　杜蘭杜蘭發行第二張大碟［Rio］　仍由第一張專輯製作人Colin Thurston操刀

首支單曲［My Own Way］(1981-11發行)先登上排行榜＃１４

第二主打［Hungry Like A Wolf／饑餓如狼］在專輯推出前一週出版

這首新浪潮／電子流行曲由杜蘭杜蘭譜寫　節拍輕快

樂評良好　商業表現也優異　登上英國單曲榜＃５　銷售突破２０萬張　拿到銀唱片

專輯也升到排行榜亞軍

國際方面：愛爾蘭／紐西蘭／南非＃４　澳洲＃５　義大利＃３２　荷蘭＃５０

只是進軍美國依舊失敗

不過當夏天時MV於MTV電台大力放送　電台開始播放此曲

接著Capital唱片打算將杜蘭杜蘭宣傳成舞曲藝人　邀請美國製作人David Kershenbaum將他們四首歌曲混音　發行EP［Carnival］ 結果受到舞廳歡迎

這讓唱片公司決定請David Kershenbaum將［Rio］A面歌曲重新混音

即時於１９８２年１１月於美國推出

［Hungry Like A Wolf］的Kershenbaum混音版也在１２月發行

這回策略果然奏效　在１９８３年３月登上告示單曲榜＃３　成功打入美國市場（現代搖滾榜冠軍＋舞曲榜＃３６）　１０年後認證金唱片（＞５０萬張）

而鄰國加拿大也登上冠軍　拿到金唱片

 

［Hungry Like A Wolf］的成功與MV有莫大關係

錄影帶選擇在斯里蘭卡拍攝

場景設計成印第安瓊斯（Indian Jones）電影系列第一部［法櫃奇兵／Raiders of the Lost Ark］風格　走懸疑動作片路線

 

［Hungry Like A Wolf］的熱門讓［Rio］大碟升至美國榜＃６　拿到雙白金唱片

首張專輯［Duran Duran］也在１９８３年４月再度發行　升至＃１０　拿到白金唱片

國際市場的成功讓杜蘭杜蘭成為全球偶像　開始他們輝煌的８０年代全盛時期
