１９６７年２月出生於舊金山的香緹．莫（Chanté Moore）為美國實力歌手．

父母為基督教福音傳道者，在教會唱歌長大，深受George Duke和Lee Ritenour音樂的影響。。

她是一名選美選手和模特，

 

１９歲時被人才經理 Benny Medina 簽約至華納兄弟唱片公司。雖然為唱片公司錄製了一張名為［Listen to My Song］的專輯，但該項目在製作後期被擱置，香緹最終被放棄。

１９９１年，與MCA唱片公司執行長Louis Silas, Jr.新成立的Silas唱片公司（與MCA 的合資企業）簽約， 香緹是該公司的第一位簽約人，

１９９１年１０月，摩爾與 R&B 歌手Keith Washington首次錄製的二重唱［Candlelight and You］收錄在 MCA 製作的喜劇電影 ［House Party 2］的原聲帶專輯中。

 

 

１９９２年９月，２５歲半的香緹推出首張大碟［Precious ／珍貴］（Silas／MCA唱片發行）

製作群包括Vassal Benford，George Duke，Lee "Patches" Hamblin，Simon Law，Laney Stewart，BeBe Winans等，

樂評良好．

 

 

首支主打是７月推出的［Loves Taken Over／愛被佔據］

由香緹，Simon Law合寫，

Simon Law＋Lee Hamblin製作成一首當代R&B／放克／靈魂曲，

在慵懶的中板節奏間，莫的細緻嗓音以性感唱腔演繹．

 

［Loves Taken Over／愛已被佔據］登上美國告示牌單曲榜＃８６副榜──R&B歌曲榜＃１３（1999年度#47），

英國＃５４

讓她在黑人音樂界開始受到矚目．

 

在單曲的推波助瀾下，大碟［This Moment Is Mine ］登上美國專輯榜＃１０１　

副榜──R&B專輯榜＃２０，取得金唱片（５０萬張＋）
