１９８３年７月　　將屆２５歲的美國歌手瑪丹娜（Madonna）發行首張同名大碟［Madonna］

主要由Reggie Lucas製作

只是他跟瑪丹娜在音樂製作過程意見不合  發生爭論

Reggie Lucas製作完歌曲後　也沒根據瑪丹娜的特色修飾便離開

因此娜姐只好找來一個迪斯可遊樂場所的DJ──John”Jellybean”Benitez來重新混音

專輯共有八首歌曲, 包括先前推出的兩首單曲［Everybody］，［Burning Up］, 以及後者的Ｂ面歌曲［Physical Attraction］

 

１９８３年９月　瑪丹娜推出大碟第三主打［Holiday／假期］

此曲由Curtis Hudson ＆Lisa Stevens譜寫, 交給John”Jellybean”Benitez

當瑪丹娜在為專輯尋找具有暢銷潛力的歌曲時, John”Jellybean”Benitez提供給她

兩人更改其作曲佈局, 加入一段兩人朋友Fred Zarr的鋼琴獨奏

John”Jellybean”Benitez擔任製作人　將其製作成一首Dance-Pop,

旋律討好, 節拍明快, 瑪丹娜的詮釋嬌俏活潑

［Holiday］受到歡迎, 在１９８４年初打進Billboard單曲榜＃１６（1984年終＃７９）

這是娜姐首支打入Billboard Hot 100單曲榜的歌曲, 也是她首支Top２０熱門曲

副榜方面：１９８３年１１月［Holiday］與［Lucky Star］並列, 登上舞曲榜后座, 蟬聯五週, 開始瑪丹娜未來幾十年的舞后霸業

另外也打入Billboard黑人榜＃２５

單曲的熱門也帶動專輯銷售, 至今在美國賣出五白金（500萬張）, 全球一千萬張以上

 

 

英國數度入榜：

１９８４年先拿到單曲榜＃６

１９８５年瑪丹娜爆紅後, ［Holiday］重新發行, 升到亞軍, 被自己的［Into The Groove］擋在后座之外

１９９１年三度發行, 這回拿到單曲榜＃５　至今在英國賣出８８萬張, 達到白金唱片標準（雖然只認證金唱片）
