… since confidence in the period of oscillation or the nature of the PDO is not great, could green house warming have influenced the PDO index? We simply do not know. The bottom line is that there

讀完Cliff Mass的The Weather of Pacific Northwest最後一頁，外頭的天氣是大異於一整個星期以來的陰雨綿綿。

我上作者的部落格，查看天氣為什麼才過一個晚上就變了，剛好看到他提及NWS新公佈，Sea-Tac最多雪的十個年份；因為去年耶誕節的大雪，即使冬天還要35天才算正式結束，2008年排名第八。

好吧，我在非常不甘願的情況下，躬逢其盛了……orz

Mass在文末有一句很有意思的話：

“But please!  No comments about all this disproving global warming!  One year means nothing.”

顯然，有許多人因為去年的大雪，而不相信溫室效應。

關於在1970年代以後，地球爲什麼變熱，一直有兩派說法：溫室效應，跟和聖嬰現象有關的Pacific Decadal Oscillation。兩派都有支持的證據，也都有不足之處。

到底哪一個才是對的？

我想起最近去聽一個我很崇拜的研究者的演講，他開場時，指著開啟他這十幾年研究的第一個數據，說：

「如果你是樂觀的人，你會說這上頭每一個點都是你要找的東西；如果你是悲觀的人，你會說這上頭每一個點都只是蛋白質碎片。不過，實際情況多半落在兩者之間。」

我想，地球暖化，也許也是如此吧！

如果，我們都能努力把溫室效應降到0，我們才能信誓旦旦的說：「這一切都是PDO的緣故。」

不過，有可能嗎？
