環滁皆山也。望蔚然深秀，瑯琊山也。山行六七里，有翼然泉上，醉翁亭也。翁之樂也。得之心、寓之酒也。更野芳佳木，風高日出，景無窮也。

Surrounding Chuzhou are mountains. Among them, the beautifully verdant, woody one is Mt. Langya. Winding several miles up its slope, there stands the pavilion with the eaves like a winged spread bird, the Old Drunkards Gazebo. The joy of the old man comes from his heartfelt pleasure and the wine that intoxicates him. The wildflowers blossom, the flourishing trees flourish, and the breeze on a sunny day lends him all the unending grace.

 游也。山肴野蔌，酒洌泉香，沸籌觥也。太守醉也。喧嘩眾賓歡也。況宴酣之樂、非絲非竹，太守樂其樂也。問當時、太守為誰，醉翁是也。

Laid in their feast wild fare is from hill and field, and springs sweetness---soon the wind-cups clink in the boistered toast.  The governor grew mellow; his guests were all loud with cheers. No flute nor lute, the governor enjoyed the ambience, finding happiness from his guests. Who might he be, this noble governor? None other than Ouyang Xiu, the drunkard.
