英語萬用字(2-1)：Take
繼上次討論 “make”與名詞的搭配，今日談談“take”的
搭配使用，尤其是與名詞的搭配均廣泛地應用在日常溝通中。
a. Take a bath/shower
指泡澡或淋浴的身體清潔方式，如：
Taking a hot bath helps me to relax after a tiring day of work.
值得一提的是，“bath”一字來自於英國的巴斯地區(Bath)，
當地在歷史上以具療癒效果的溫泉而著名。
b. Take a chance
指嘗試看看，通常不確定結果如何，帶有些冒險的意味，如：
I know this may not succeed, but I am willing to take a chance.
也可指嘗試與某人交往相處，通常加上介繫詞“on”，如：
Take a chance on her, so you can be sure if she is your Ms. Right.
c. Take a commodity
在購物時，“take”指決定購買某項商品，如：
After comparing the two TV sets, I’ll take the LG one.
d. Take a course
指修讀一門課程，也可加上“class”，如：
I am considering taking a course on economics next year.
e. Take a message
在使用電話時，表示記下來電一方的訊息，如：
I am sorry. Mr. Huang is not in at the moment. Could I take your
message?
注意！“take a message”與“leave a message”語意不同，不可混淆。
f. Take a picture/photo
指拍照，若要說與他人拍照則加上介繫詞“with”，如：
I took a photo with my best friend in front of the palace.
若是用手機自拍，可說 “take a selfie”，如：
The two teenage girls took a selfie from a high angle under the cherry blossom tree.
註：angle (n.) 角度；cherry blossom tree (n.) 櫻花樹
g. Take a transportation tool
“take”亦可表示搭乘某種交通工具，如 “take a car”、“take a taxi/cab”、“take a bus”、“take a plane”、“take the subway”、“take a train”、“take a ferry”，甚至搭雲霄飛車：“take the roller coaster”。
We will take a bus to the National Palace Museum.

h. Take a trip
指進行一趟短期的旅行，若要表示目的地則加上介繫詞“to”
，如：
I plan to take a trip to Hong Kong on the weekend.
i. Take a turn
在指引方向或描述路線時，表示轉彎，如：
Take a right turn at the first intersections.
也可把動詞“take”替換為“make”。
j. Take a walk
意為散步，若要強調悠閒的感覺，可用“take a stroll”。
“stroll”是名詞，義為漫步。
The newly-wed couple took a stroll on the sandy beach
in the early morning.
註：newly-wed (adj. phr.) 新婚的
k. Take an X-ray
指接受X光的掃描，若要說明掃描的部位則加上介繫詞
“of”，如：
The doctor recommended the patient to take an X-ray of
her broken ankle.
l. Take (someone’s) advice
指接受他人提供的建議、忠告，注意“advice”為不可數
名詞，如：
I think I should have taken my mentor’s advice so my team
could finish on time.
