１９９３年秋天　逃脫推出首張大碟〔Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha〕

他把逃脫的音樂稱做Ghetto Soul
也就是Hip-Hop與R&B的結合

大碟首支主打為８月發行的〔Just kickin’ It〕

這是首旋律柔美的R&B抒情曲
逃脫在此展現了傑出的合聲技巧

雖然〔Just kickin’ It〕得到銷售榜冠軍
但卻遇到黑人少女團體殺手──美國天后瑪麗亞凱莉（Mariah Carey）的八週冠軍曲〔Dreamlover／夢中情人〕
後者只登上銷售亞軍 但由於電台播放比人強
所以雖然才將美聲姐妹（SWV）〔Right Here(Human Nature)／Downtown〕擋在后座外
