１９７７年８月，２２歲的美國鄉村樂歌手蕾芭．麥肯泰（Reba McEntire）在Mercury唱片旗下出版首張同名錄音室大碟〔Reba McEntire〕, 叫好不叫座。

１９７９年８月, 蕾芭推出第二張大碟［Out of a Dream／夢境之外］

由Jerry Kennedy製作，曲風從傳統鄉村樂逐漸轉向鄉村流行，樂評優良。

大碟並包括首支麥肯泰獨力創作的歌曲．

 

１９７９年９月，蕾芭推出首支主打［Last Night, Evry Night／昨晚，每一夜］，

Bob Morrison，Jim Zerface，Bill Zerface 創作，Jerry Kennedy製作成一首鄉村流行抒情曲．

旋律優美，麥肯泰溫柔地唱出沉醉愛河的甜蜜．

［Last Night, Evry Night］登上Billboard鄉村單曲榜＃２８, 為［Out of a Dream］──是蕾芭蒂事業第二首Top４０鄉村熱門曲

 

儘管有前五首單曲皆打入鄉村單曲榜Top４０，但［Out of a Dream］仍沒進入鄉村專輯榜。

不過此後麥肯泰的聲勢穩定上升, １９８０年代中期順利成為美國鄉村樂壇首席天后
