１９９４年秋天　３６歲的美國流行天后瑪丹娜（Madonna）推出第六張錄音室大碟［Bedtime Stories／枕邊故事］（Maverick／Sire／Warner Bros發行）

為了讓風更主流, 邀來Dallas Austin, Babyface, Dave "Jam" Hall, and Nellee Hooper與她合作, 結果製作出一張流行／R&B曲風的專輯。

樂評廣泛給予好評（滾石雜誌3.5星）

首支主打［Secret／秘密］成為娜姐事業名曲之一

第二主打［Take A Bow／謝幕］則登上美國Billboard單曲榜七週冠軍, 為其事業最長。

 

１９９５年２月１３日, 瑪丹娜先在英國推出第三主打［Bedtime Story／枕邊故事］

此曲由冰島音樂鬼才碧玉（Björk）與英國音樂人Nellee Hooper， Marius De Vries譜寫,

瑪丹娜與Nellee Hooper共同製作成一首融合迷幻(acid), 氛圍(ambient)的電子／House舞曲。

跟娜姐平常旋律悅耳, 快拍的舞曲不同, ［Bedtime Story］速度較慢, 旋律較平緩, 但節奏架構更複雜。

 

［Bedtime Storie／枕邊故事］原本打算製作成一張以靈魂／R&B的專輯, 但瑪丹娜也想探索英國舞廳音樂──當時迴響音樂（dub）漸受歡迎, 因此決定跟一些歐洲音樂人合作。

娜姐覺得Nellee Hooper頗具歐洲敏感性, 邀他來到洛杉磯, 與他展開歌曲寫作過程。

透過Nellee Hooper， Marius De Vries的關係, 瑪丹娜與他們的的合作對象──碧玉聯絡上。

碧玉並非娜姐粉絲, 一開始很難想像自己為瑪丹娜寫歌, 但好奇這項提議, 而且想讓這名美國天后演唱她從沒唱過的東西, 於是決定接受, 並製作試唱帶（Demo）, De Vries與Hooper重新編曲成最後版本。發行後受到好評。

 

［Bedtime Story］登上英國單曲榜＃４──為專輯四首單曲最高名次。

在美國, 只升到Billboard單曲榜＃４２──為瑪丹娜當時入榜主打的新低紀錄。

副榜較佳：舞廳播放榜冠軍（1995年終#3）　舞曲混音銷售榜＃３

MV由Mark Romanek執導。由於運用大量電腦動畫效果, 花了４５０萬美元成本, 成為當時耗資最貴的音樂影片之一。
