A period of ten years (1927-1937) which had been fraught with warlords, landlords, compradors, bandits, and inequal treaties imposed by western imperialists, such as dependent customs, was hyped up by KMT as the "golden decade" of modern China.
Obviously it was not. But why not? Simply because then China had yet to be reconstructed from bottom up, and the mass social power had not released. In short, it was not the time that "of the people, by the people, and for the people."
Let us see how did Nationalist China acquit itself during that "golden decade":
