They are the greatest sisters in world literature, Bronte sisters: Charlotte, Emily, and Anne. "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte is one of few English novels that I have ever finished reading through. But no matter how hard have I tried, still I could not cope with that abstruse "Wuthering Heights" by Emily. Attached below are two pieces of reportages concerning the lives of Bronte sisters and the background of their writings.

FYI, actually the three sisters had other siblings, another three girls and a boy. They all died young at about 30 years old during 1830-40. A generation earlier than the Brontes, my another favorite writer Jane Austen also died young at only 42. For whatever explanations, they were all short-lived in this world particularly at the time when UK had entered pre-industrialization stage. So I can boldly say the living condition of then western world was no better than that of China. Please do not think China is inferior to West all the time.
