共和國戰歌(Battle Hymn of the Republic)

七月四日是美國獨立紀念日，
用這首音樂慶賀美國的國慶日。
共和國戰歌的旋律是美國的民謠，
最早的歌詞是為了紀念一位主張廢奴的John Brown
所以稱之為John Browns Song。
在1862年Julia Ward Howe 填了新的歌詞，
發表在《大西洋月刊》上，
即是今日的<共和國戰歌>，
在美國南北戰爭中成為著名的愛國歌曲，
歌詞把基督教中有關末世的信仰，
亦即正義終將得勝的信念
與愛國情操象連接，
是此歌曲受到普遍喜愛的原因，
這首歌也成了 1960年代的民權運動期的戰歌。
