Selected poems:《
(Georg Trakl)

Autumn
In the evening, when the bells ring peace,
I follow the wonderful flights of birds,
That in long rows, like devout processions of pilgrims,
Disappear into the clear autumn vastness.
Wandering through the garden closed for the night
I dream after their brighter destinies
And hardly feel the motion of the hour hands.
Thus I follow their journey over the clouds.
Then a breath of decay makes me tremble.
A bird complains in defoliated branches.
The red wine sways on rusty trellises.
Meanwhile like the death-dances of pale children
Around dark fountain edges that weather,
Shivering blue asters bend in the wind.

“In a Deserted Room”
Translated from the German by Jim Doss & Werner Schmitt
Window, colorful flowerbeds,
An organ plays herein.
Shadows dance on wallpapers,
Fantastically a mad succession.
Ablaze the bushes wave
And a swarm of gnats sways.
Far away scythes mow in the acre
And an ancient water sings.
Whose breath comes to caress me?
Swallows draw insane signs.
Quietly there in the boundlessness
The golden woodland flows out.
Flames flicker in the flowerbeds.
Woozily the mad succession ecstacizes
On the yellowish wallpapers.
Someone looks in through the door.
Incense smells sweet and like a pear
And glass and chest dusk.
Slowly the hot forehead
Bends toward white stars.

De Profundis
There is a stubble field on which a black rain falls.
There is a tree which, brown, stands lonely here.
There is a hissing wind which haunts deserted huts—-
How sad this evening.
Past the village pond
The gentle orphan still gathers scanty ears of corn.
Golden and round her eyes are gazing in the dusk
And her lap awaits the heavenly bridegroom.
Returning home
Shepherds found the sweet body
Decayed in the bramble bush.
A shade I am remote from sombre hamlets.
The silence of God
I drank from the woodland well.
On my forehead cold metal forms.
Spiders look for my heart.
There is a light that fails in my mouth.
At night I found myself upon a heath,
Thick with garbage and the dust of stars.
In the hazel copse
Crystal angels have sounded once more.
鮮血拋灑,月光凜冽;
迎接英雄的亡魂,滴血的頭顱;

Grodek
In the evening the autumnal forests tint
Of deadly weapons, the golden plains
And blue lakes, above them the sun
Gloomy rolls down; embraces the night
Dying warriors, the wild lament
their broken mouths.
But still gathers in the willow ground
Red clouds in which an angry god dwells
The spilled blood, moon coolness;
All roads lead to black decay.
Under the golden branches of the night and stars
The sisters shadow staggers through the silent grove,
To salute the ghosts of heroes, the bleeding heads;
And the dark flutes of autumn sound softly in the pipe.
O prouder sorrow! you bronze altars
The hot flame of the spirit feeds a tremendous pain today,
The unborn grandchildren.
