由名音樂搭檔Burt Bacharach作詞，Hal David作曲

１９６３年由名演員李察·張伯倫（Richard Chamberlain）灌錄，

後來Dionne Warwick Dusty Springfield皆有自己版本，惜未紅．

 

１９６８年， Herb Alpert 憑藉Burt Bacharach＆Hal David共同創作的歌曲［This Guys in Love with You］獲得美國單曲榜冠軍，Bacharach＆David將［(They Long to Be) Close to You］送給了他。

Herb Alpert錄製了這首歌，但他對錄音不滿意，沒有發行。

Alpert說服木卡本特灌錄製此曲，因為他相信這首歌適合他們。（Herb Alpert是A&M唱片創辦人）

 

 

木匠版由Jack Daugherty製作成一首流行抒情曲,
