１９５５年３月生於科羅拉多州的蘭迪·范華默（Randy VanWarmer，1955-2004）是美國創作歌手／吉他手

１９７９年發行首張大碟［Warmer／海默］（Bearsville Records出版），

范華默負責己乎所有歌曲創作　Del Newman製作，樂評好壞兩極

首支單曲未入榜

第二主打是１９７９年２月推出的［Just When I Needed You Most／在我最需要你時］

由蘭迪＋Tony Wilson譜寫　

范華默是受到兩件事的啟發，寫下此曲：

 

１－他使用多年的愛車在他去科羅拉多州丹佛市上班的路上拋錨了，

２－他經歷了一次“毀滅性”的分手。

在分手六個月後，他寫了［Just When I Needed You Most］，並與熱巧克力樂隊（Hot Chocolate）的Tony Wilson)合寫這首歌。

Del Newman將其製作成一首軟式搖滾／鄉村抒情曲

將簡潔的樂聲中, 范華默以恬淡的語調輕吟此曲

蘭迪向 Bearsville 美國總部施壓，要求其宣傳［Warmer／海默］大碟，

並以［Just When I Needed You Most］作為首支主打單曲，

范華默記得 Bearsville 對這首曲目沒有太多熱情：

 

“沒有人認為我的版本特別好，一些人還考慮剔除它......每個人都認為我的版本是個試唱帶……”

 

［Just When I Needed You Most］登上美國Billboard單曲榜＃４（1979年度#29）, 取得百萬金唱片，讓蘭迪成名

副榜－Easy Listening榜冠軍　鄉村歌曲榜＃７１

另拿到英國綁＃８（銀唱片）愛爾蘭＃５　加拿大＃３２　澳大利亞＃１７　　紐西蘭＃９

此曲後來被眾多歌手翻唱．

只是接下來范華默的歌手事業便下滑，

［Just When I Needed You Most］成為其事業唯一的熱門曲．
