1. smite
Definition: to strike sharply or heavily especially with the hand or an implement held in the hand
Example: He vowed that he would smite his enemy.
2. mistress
Definition:  a woman who has power, authority, or ownership
Example: Servants were required to do the mistress's bidding without question.
3. sorceress
Definition: a woman who is a sorcerer
Example: asked the sorceress to cast an evil spell over the village
4. burlesque
Definition: a literary or dramatic work that seeks to ridicule by means of grotesque exaggeration or comic imitation
Example: The book is a burlesque of Victorian society.
5. parody
Definition: a literary or musical work in which the style of an author or work is closely imitated for comic effect or in ridicule
Example: He has a talent for writing parodies.
6. caricature
Definition: exaggeration by means of often ludicrous distortion of parts or characteristics
Example: An artist was doing caricatures in the park.
7. bulk
Definition: spatial dimension : magnitude
Example: We spent the bulk of the summer at the beach.
8. irate
Definition: roused to ire
Example: Irate viewers called the television network to complain about the show.
9. petition
Definition: an earnest request : entreaty
Example: They collected 2,000 signatures on a petition demanding that women be allowed to join the club.

Definition: a place, room, or container where something is deposited or stored
Example: He is the repository of many secrets.

Definition: to cause to be of no effect

Definition: compensation paid for saving a ship or its cargo from the perils of the sea or for the lives and property rescued in a wreck

Definition: of or made of horn

Definition: a level or rolling treeless plain that is characteristic of arctic and subarctic regions, consists of black mucky soil with a permanently frozen subsoil, and has a dominant vegetation of mosses, lichens, herbs, and dwarf shrubs
Example: a report on the arctic tundra of Alaska and the polar bears that inhabit that vast, frozen plain

23. epithet
Definition: a characterizing word or phrase accompanying or occurring in place of the name of a person or thing
Example: His charitable works have earned him the epithet “Mr. Philanthropy.”
24. recur
Definition: to have recourse
Example: There is only a slight chance that the disease will recur.
25. rendering
Definition: to melt down
Example: Depression can render a person helpless.
