想當日梢頭獨佔一枝春　嫩綠嫣紅何等媚人  

Time was when you bloomed alone on a branch,

How charming, your tender green and vivid red? 

不幸攀折慘遭無情手　未隨流水轉墮風塵

Yet cruelly plucked by a merciless hand,

you fell not into the stream, but into the dust of this world.

 莫懷薄倖惹傷心　落花無主任飄零

Do not dwell on betrayal, nor let sorrow take root,

Like a fallen petal, drift freely, untethered.

 可憐鴻魚望斷無蹤影　向誰去嗚咽訴不平

Even the wild goose, lost in the vast sky, sees no end.

To whom can you whisper your grievances?  

乍辭枝頭別恨新　和風和淚舞盈盈

Fresh is the pain of parting from the branch,

dancing lightly in the breeze, your tears mingle with tears. 

堪嘆世人未解儂辛苦　反笑紅雨落紛紛

Alas, the world knows not your suffering;

instead, they laugh as you scatter like crimson rain.

願逐洪流葬此身　天涯何處是歸程

You would rather be carried away by the flowing river,

To rest in its depths---where is your journeys end?

讓玉消香逝無蹤影　也不求世間予同情

Let your jade-like beauty fade into nothingness,

Than seek pity from a world that offers none.
