不得哭，潛別離。Do not cry; let us part silently.

不得語，暗相思。Do not say a word, let us remember quietly.

兩心之外無人知。Only our two hearts share the secret.

深籠夜鎖獨棲鳥，A single bird is caged in the night

利劍春斷連理枝。A sharp sword cut off the entwined branches.

河水雖濁有清日， Murky rivers will turn clear someday

烏頭雖黑有白時。 Black hair will turn gray someday.

惟有潛離與暗別， Just part in silence and by stealth

彼此甘心無後期。 We shall not expect to meet again.
