Recently, the Ministry of Education announced that Taiwan will no longer recognize the degrees of three Mainland universities because they are under the auspices of the Chinese Ministry of Unified Front (統戰部).

People of Taiwan, including the politicians from the Blue or Green camps, are susceptible to the two words, 統戰, the abbrivation of 統一戰線 . They associate two Chinese words with the battle for reunification between the Mainland and Taiwan. The term unified front was originally a strategy by the Soviets; in a nutshell, it means to make as many friends from different classes or fronts as possible to promote communism. 

Dear islanders, please pay heed to what the Chinese Departments of Defense, Foreign Affairs, and Taiwan Office would say regarding Taiwan, and you could disregard the Department of Unified Front.
