１９５８年９月生於倫敦的英裔美國華麗金屬歌手／吉他手麗塔福特（Lita Ford）全名Lita Rossana Ford，父親英國人，母親義大利人．

小學二年級時，舉家移民至美國，定居在加州長灘．

她從１１歲開始彈吉他。

 

 

１９７５年，福特被唱片經理 Kim Fowley 招募加入全女性搖滾樂團 The Runaways。

樂團於１９７６年發行第一張專輯，獲得媒體廣泛關注，

福特的主音吉他演奏成為樂團中不可或缺的元素

１９７９年 ４月樂團因內部衝突解散。

 

１９８２年，２４歲半的福特與水星唱片公司（Mercury Records）簽約，開始個人職業生涯。

１９８３年５月，２４歲半的福特推出首張個人大碟［Out for Blood／決不善罷甘休］（Mercury Records）

她參與專輯八首歌創作．

由Neil Merryweather, Artie Ripp, Joel Soiffer製作，評價褒貶不一．

 

首支單曲是標題曲［Out for Blood］

由麗塔與Neil Merryweather合寫，

被製作成一首重金屬／硬式搖滾，

編曲熱鬧有力，福特的嗓音激情狂野，充滿爆發力．
