1. coy
Definition: shrinking from contact or familiarity
Example: I didn't like her coy manner.
2. plunge
Definition: to cause to penetrate or enter quickly and forcibly into something
Example: Her car plunged off a bridge.
3. peddle
Definition: to travel about with wares for sale
Example: They peddled fruits and vegetables out of their truck on the side of the road.
4. whiz
Definition: to hum, whir, or hiss like a speeding object (as an arrow or ball) passing through air
Example: The ball whizzed through the air.
5. swipe
Definition: a strong sweeping blow
Example: She took a swipe at her former company in her latest column.
6. asylum
Definition: an inviolable place of refuge and protection giving shelter to criminals and debtors

Definition: given to or engaged in rebellion
Example: the rebellious troops fought a pitched battle with divisions still loyal to the government

Definition: to excavate the earth beneath
Example: She tried to undermine my authority by complaining about me to my boss.
13. conviction
Definition: the act or process of finding a person guilty of a crime especially in a court of law
Example: She hopes to avoid conviction.
14. secular
Definition: of or relating to the worldly or temporal
Example: Both secular and religious institutions can apply for the funds.

Definition: a contention by words or arguments
Example: The candidates participated in several debates before the election was held.
16. traditionalist
Definition: adherence to the doctrines or practices of a tradition
Example: a staunch supporter of grammatical traditionalism, my English teacher didn't care what the experts in linguistics said
17. proponent
Definition: one who argues in favor of something
Example: a vocal proponent of the use of electric-powered cars
18. recovery
Definition: the act, process, or an instance of recovering
Example: This policy may slow the pace of economic recovery.

Definition: a combat between two persons
Example: They engaged in a duel of wits.
20. infantry
Definition: soldiers trained, armed, and equipped to fight on foot

Definition: marked by extreme or excessive care in the consideration or treatment of details

Definition: to tend or move toward one point or one another

24. omnipotent
Definition: having virtually unlimited authority or influence  
Example: the nearly universal religious belief that God is omnipotent and omniscient

Definition: of, relating to, or constituting the degree of comparison in a language that denotes increase in the quality, quantity, or relation expressed by an adjective or adverb
Example: She did a comparative study of classical and modern art.
