歌者的聲音用幾乎是肌肉的力量和炫耀擲出的每一個音符都是對我的當胸一擊。當一個句子在低音處唱完，樂曲似乎已經結束時，唱歌的人還不滿足，又由高音處重新開始，好像他需要再一次宣告我的孤獨和絕望。而我出於關注他的歌這一愚蠢的禮貌，對自己說：「我現在還下不了決心；先要把高音這一句再默唱一遍。」然而這個歌句卻在擴大我的孤獨，它在我的孤獨中落下並使我的孤獨隨著分分秒秒的過去而愈來愈完整，不久將無可挽回。

Each note that the singer’s voice uttered with a force and ostentation that were almost muscular came and pierced my heart; when he had uttered his last flourish and the song seemed to be at an end, the singer had not had enough and repeated it an octave higher as though he needed to proclaim once again my solitude and despair.

Chaque note que lançait la voix du chanteur avec une force et une ostentation presque musculaires venait me frapper en plein coeuri; quand la phrase était consommée et que le morceau semblait fini, le chanteur n’en avait pas assez et reprenait plus haut comme s’il avait besoin de proclamer une fois de plus ma solitude et mon désespoir.
