新竹高於舊竹枝，  New bamboos outgrow the old ones’ height,

全憑老幹為扶持。   Yet on old trunks they lean for support.

下年再有新生者，   When new shoots arise again next year,

十丈龍孫繞鳳池。    Ten‑foot-tall sprouts will surround the pool with pride.
