「乾杯！」英語怎麼說?

    參加私人或公共社交活動，不論是婚宴(Wedding party/reception)或是

公司的招待會(reception )，常有舉杯慶祝的機會，今日我們來討論「乾杯」

的相關說法：

    若是要提議舉杯慶祝，可用“propose a toast”一詞；其中 “propose”為

提議，是動詞，而“toast”是指舉杯慶賀的動作(當然也可指食物類的土司)，

是名詞，例如：

     Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to propose a toast.

若要請大家舉杯，也可用動詞“raise”，如：

     Ladies and gentlemen, please raise your glasses.

若要表明舉杯致意的對象或慶祝的原因，在“toast”後加上 “to” (介繫詞)，如：

     Dear fellow investors, I would like to propose a toast to our

brilliant management team/our harvest year.

(中譯：親愛的各位投資人，我想提議向我們卓越的管理團隊  

舉杯致意/舉杯慶祝我們豐收的一年)

若是要碰杯慶祝，說聲「乾杯！」，英文則用“cheers”。若要說敬某某人，

只要用“to” (介繫詞)加上對象即可，如 “to Mr. Johnson/Vanessa/Michael Li”。

若舉杯是要祝福對方，則可用助動詞“May”置於祝詞前，如：

    May you enjoy great health!

    May your love last forever!

    May you have a wonderful marriage!

    May you have another prosperous year!

而乾杯往往要一飲而盡，在中西方皆然，若要表示一杯見底可用動詞

“empty”，如：

    Let’s empty this shot and stay drunk tonight.

    註：shot (n.) 一杯酒
