gentrify：重建，並不是平常我們看災難新聞常聽到的災後重建 (restore, rebuild, reconstruct, re-establish,
rehabilitate)，而是將貧民居住區改建、翻新、升格成中產階級居住區，因為會吸引較高收入人士遷入，結果使該區房價上漲，又有人譯作「貴族化」。不過這兩個翻譯都不是最理想的，其實我個人認為這比較像重劃區或都市更新的概念。
