１９７２年　流行偶像Brenda Lee灌錄〔Always On My Mind〕

同年貓王（Elvis Presley）也翻唱成自己的版本  放在單曲〔Seprate Ways〕的B-面歌曲

當時拿到美國榜＃２０（金唱片＞５０萬張）

不過在英國發行時　〔Always On My Mind〕變成A面主打  〔Seprate Ways〕反成了B-Side

１９８２年春天　鄉村傳奇威利尼爾森（Willie Nelson）重唱此曲

不但拿下鄉村榜兩週冠軍　更跨界到流行榜　得到＃５

成為他當時在主流市場最成功的單曲

並拿下葛萊美獎年度歌曲等三項大獎　鄉村音樂獎年度單曲　鄉村音樂協會年度歌曲　成為其事業最有名的代表作

１９８７年８月　英國電子舞曲同志天團寵物店男孩（Pet Shop Boys）受邀在ITV電視台貓王逝世１０週年演唱會表演

他們在〔Baby Let’s Play House〕與〔Always On My Mind〕猶豫

最後選擇了後者　結果反應良好　於是決定灌錄成自己的版本

寵物店男孩在１１月底推出他們的〔Always On My Mind〕

這是一首合成流行舞曲　編曲華麗有氣勢　令人印象深刻

雖然主唱 Neil依舊維持著其冷冽的演繹方式
不過卻能給人一種溫馨和煦的感覺

單曲推出後大受歡迎　成為寵物店男孩第三首英國＃１　蟬聯四周　並且是當年的聖誕假期冠軍

美國方面則拿下流行榜＃４（寵物店男孩第四首Top１０）　舞曲播放＃８　舞曲銷售＃１２

在國際市場方面　拿下德國＆加拿大冠軍　澳洲＃１０

〔Always On My Mind〕後來收錄在近一年後（１９８８／１０／１１）發行的英國雙白金亞軍EP 〔Introspective〕中

〔Always On My Mind〕不但寵物店男孩最成功的單曲之一

也是他們最有名也最受讚譽的代表作之一
