１９９５年成立的秘密花園（Secret Garden）是挪威／愛爾蘭新世紀音樂雙人組合

由挪威籍作曲家／編曲者／鋼琴家羅爾夫•勒夫蘭（Rolf Løvland）與愛爾蘭歌手／小提琴家芬古瓦拉·雪利（Fionnuala Sherry）組成

以新世紀音樂, 新古典音樂, 凱爾特音樂, 北歐民謠等風格聞名。

１９９５年參加歐洲歌唱大賽, 以［Nocturne］拿到冠軍。

１９９６年發行首張大碟。

 

 

２００１年１２月, 秘密花園推出第四張原創專輯［Once in a Red Moon］（Universal / Decca出版）

由Rolf Løvland＋Fionnuala Sherry＋Andrew Boland製作, 獲得絕佳樂評。

其中第二首歌曲［You Raise Me Up／你鼓舞了我］被世紀各第至少上百名歌手翻唱, 成為秘密花園最著名的歌曲

 

［You Raise Me Up／你鼓舞了我］由Rolf Løvland作曲，布倫丹·格雷厄姆（Brendan Graham）作詞。

起初此曲取名［Silent Story／無聲的故事］，是一首愛爾蘭傳統音樂演奏作品。Rolf Løvland讀過格雷厄姆的小說後，邀他為該曲創作歌詞。

秘密花園原本找上愛爾蘭歌手強尼·羅根（Johnny Logan,）擔任主唱，羅根的演繹令他們相當滿意。

可是秘密花園，強尼羅根，布倫丹•格雷厄姆都從是歐洲歌唱大賽得主, 唱片公司不院的要求，神秘園只能妥協，改找連英國北愛爾蘭歌手布萊恩•甘迺迪（Brian Kennedy）演唱。

 

２００１年６月，秘密花園決定讓倫敦社區福音合唱團（The London Community Gospel Choir）來演唱歌曲最後一節，並要合唱團的負責人挑選歌手崔西·坎貝爾（Tracey Campbell）獨唱第二節。

２００１年１０月，［You Raise Me Up／你鼓舞了我］在挪威的電視節目《Norwegian TV-2》上首次演出，由神秘園演奏音樂，布萊恩·甘迺迪與坎貝爾演唱

 

２００３年布萊恩•甘迺迪灌錄收在其大碟［On Song］, 並推出單曲, 只拿到英國單曲榜＃９１

 

２００３年，美國美聲歌手喬許·葛洛班（Josh Groban）在大碟［Closer］翻唱［You Raise Me Up／你鼓舞了我］，

由大衛•福斯特（David Foster）製作　廣受好評

登上美國單曲榜＃７３　英國榜＃７４

雖然商業成績不算亮眼, 卻廣被傳誦,　讓［You Raise Me Up／你鼓舞了我］出名。

此後被眾多藝人翻唱, 不過喬許•葛洛班的演繹仍是最著名版本

 

２００５年 , 愛爾蘭團體西城男孩（Westlife）翻唱此曲, 登上英國單曲榜冠軍（2005年終#9） 歐洲榜＃４

這是在歐洲流行的另一版本。
