奐山山市，邑八景之一也，然數年恆不一見。孫公子禹年與同人飲樓上，忽見山頭有孤塔聳起，高插青冥，相顧驚疑，念近中無此禪院。無何，見宮殿數十所，碧瓦飛甍，始悟為山市。未幾，高垣睥睨，連亘六七里，居然城郭矣。中有樓若者，堂若者，坊若者，歷歷在目，以億萬計。忽大風起，塵氣莽莽然，城市依稀而已。既而風定天清，一切烏有，惟危樓一座，直接霄漢。樓五架，窗扉皆洞開；一行有五點明處，樓外天也。
Mountain City in Mt. Huan is one of the eight attractions, but it has hardly been seen for years. Sir Sun Yunian once had a feast with his friends in the loft of a restaurant. Suddenly, he beheld a lone tower rising from the top of the mountain to the skies. They were overwhelmed with one another, for there was no such pagoda around here. In no time, as they saw decades of palaces with jade-green tiles and cocked cornices, they then realized it was the Mountain City. Later, the layered tall walls and parapets appeared, stretching as long as six or seven Lis, just like a city. There were the clearly visible images of towers, parlors, and alleys, too many to count. Suddenly, blustery winds blew, and the city became dusty and blurred. When the winds stopped and the skies cleared again, all images were gone, only a high-rise tower standing there to the clouds. There were five rooms on each floor, and all doors and windows were open wide. So, there were five bright spots in each row, showing the skies beyond the tower.
層層指數，樓愈高，則明漸少。數至八層，裁如星點。又其上，則黯然縹緲，不可計其層次矣。而樓上人往來屑屑，或憑或立，不一狀。逾時，樓漸低，可見其頂；又漸如常樓；又漸如高舍；倏忽如拳如豆，遂不可見。
The taller the story went, the less bright the spot sparking. When on the eighth story, the spot was like a starlet only. The farther it went, the more misty the number of levels to be counted. On the tower, bustling people of different postures were walking, leaning, or standing. Before long, the tower shrank, and its top was seen. Gradually, it became an ordinary building, and then a tall house. All at once, it was as small as a fist, then as a bean, and finally out of sight.
又聞有早行者，見山上人煙市肆，與世無別，故又名“鬼市”云。
I also heard some early birds say that they had seen bustling people and stores around the place, not different from others; therefore, the mountain was also called a Ghost City.
