言不可輕，輕則招辱；Frivolous talk invites humiliation;
語不可妄，妄則致災。False words cause disaster.
慎言則無過，守口則無虞，此乃立身之要。Careful words make you faultless; restrained talk makes you harmless. Both are the fundamentals you must follow.
與人言，多聽少語；In conversation, listen more, speak less.
論是非，避而不語。Keep silent or go away from gossip.
揚人善，隱人惡；Reveal others benevolence, conceal others small evils.
言有信，語有禮。Always keep your words; always talk in good manners.
窮不言志短，達不言勢盛；In reduced circumstances, never forget your ambition; in prominence, never boast of your power.
失意不怨，得意不夸。When down and out, never complain; when in complacency, never show off.
