Puyuan is an ancient town located in Tongxiang, Jiaxin, Zhejiang Province, somewhere en route from Huangshan to Hangzhou. It was built more than eight hundred years ago in the Southern Song Dynasty. The rockeries, towers, pavilions, gazebos, grasses, and trees had been well preserved and refurbished.
The garden is too big for the tourists like us to visit it all within a limited time. So, I accepted the proposal of touring the town on a boat. I think the natural channels and canals combined had formed the sinuous brook. The tall, leafy weeping willows cover both sides of the channel. To me, the nearly half an hour on the boat was like viewing poetry in motion. No wonder there have been so many poems in praise of the scenery of "Jiangnan".
The tour guide said that Puyuan now is the trading center of wool products in China. But we did not have time to see how it is by ourselves.
