Recently, strict regulations have been imposed on the vehicles and pedestrians on the island. Vehicles must pay courtesy to the pedestrians on the zebra lines, while pedestrians cannot be jaywalkers any longer. So, now we can see a more harmonious scene in the city traffic in Taipei.

Yesterday morning, when I was going to cross an about 40-meter-long insection, the signal on the other side showed that there were only 8 seconds left. I figured that I could not make it, so I halted, waiting for the next green. Instantly, a young lady by my side, with a suit of dress and a pair of leather shoes on, dashed to cross the street. She made it in 8 seconds for as long as 40 meters—not a bad performance. When she was running, there were four cars waiting for a left turn after her. Well, that was the scene we should have seen in Taiwan.

Now I am 77, and if I were 10 years younger, I guess I could make it, too.
