常記溪亭日暮，

I always remember once I was playing in the gazebo on a brook till twilight.

沉醉不知歸路。

I intoxicated myself and lingered there so long as I was oblivious of the time in delight.

興盡晚回舟，

To my hearts content, I returned home on the boat late.

誤入藕花深處。

By mistake, we rowed the boat into a lotus thicket.

爭渡，爭渡，驚起一灘鷗鷺。

Paddle, paddle!  A flock of gulls and herons were startled.
