１９８６年夏天，瑞典流行雙人組羅克賽特（Roxette）以首支單曲［Neverending Love／永無止境的愛］（EMI唱片發行）打響名氣．

１９８６年．羅克賽特首張英文大碟［Perals of Passion／熱情珍珠］推出，由Clarence Öfwerman製作．

大碟登上瑞典專輯榜亞軍（1989年終#4）　拿到白金唱片（２８萬張＋），讓羅克賽特在瑞典一舉成名．

 

１９８７年２月，羅克賽特推出第三單曲［Soul Deep／靈魂深處］．

由Per Gessle創作，最初由用瑞典語作詞，歌名為“Dansar nerför ditt stup i rekordfart”（以破紀錄的速度跳下懸崖），但Gessle後來覺得瑞典語歌詞“太傻太瘋狂”，於是重新填詞，創作了英文歌詞。

Clarence Öfwerman製作成一首強力流行曲

旋律琅琅上口，節奏強勁，瑪麗的歌聲狂野有力．

 

這首單曲僅在瑞典、德國和加拿大發行。

登上瑞典單曲榜＃１８，連續三週，．

但在德國和加拿大均未上榜．

 

［Soul Deep］經過混音後，也收錄在1991年發行的專輯［Joyride］的CD版本中。

羅克賽特重新發行這首歌有兩個原因：首先，是為了讓它在即將到來的“Join The Joyride”世界巡迴演唱會的歌單中佔據重要位置；

其次，因為這首歌具有其他Roxette歌曲所缺乏的R&B風格。
