１９８６年成立的羅克賽特（Roxette）是瑞典最有名的流行搖滾雙人組之一，由瑪麗（Marie Fredriksson，1958-2019）與２７歲的波爾（Per Gessel，1959-）組成．

在組合成立之前，兩人都已是瑞典知名的音樂人。瑪麗曾發行過多張成功的個人專輯，而波爾則是Gyllene Tider樂團的主唱兼詞曲作者，該樂團在瑞典曾擁有三張冠軍專輯。

大約在此時，EMI的執行長Rolf Nygren建議Fredriksson和Gessle合作錄製一首英文歌曲。

Fredriksson的朋友和業內顧問都警告她不要參與這個項目，擔心這會影響她蓬勃發展的個人事業。Gessle將他創作的一首名為《Svarta glas／黑玻璃》的歌曲翻譯成英文［Neverending Love］。

 

 

１９８６年７月，瑪麗和波爾以羅克賽特（Roxette）為團名，推出首支單曲［Neverending Love／永無止境的愛］（EMI唱片發行）

由Per Gessle創作，Clarence Öfwerman製作成一首強力流行／歐洲流行，

旋律琅琅上口，節奏輕快，節拍明快有勁．

 

［Neverending Love］最初只計劃在瑞典以外地區發行，因為EMI認為這會影響瑪麗成功的個人事業。但唱片公司最終改變主意，在瑞典推出．

［Neverending Love］登上瑞典單曲榜＃３（1989年終#4）　賣出５萬張（白金唱片標準），打響組合名氣．

羅克賽特很快就錄製他們的首張專輯．

１９８６年１０月底．首張英文大碟［Perals of Passion／熱情珍珠］推出，由Clarence Öfwerman製作．

大碟登上瑞典專輯榜亞軍（1989年終#4）　拿到白金唱片（２８萬張＋），讓羅克賽特在瑞典一舉成名．

 

這首歌拍攝了兩支音樂錄影帶。第一支於1986年在盧森堡拍攝，瑪麗以一頭紅髮亮相。第二支一年後在瑞典拍攝。

［Neverending Love］和隨後的歌曲［Soul Deep］在國際上作為單曲發行，但在瑞典以外的地區未能上榜。

直到１９８９年，他們才以第二張專輯［Look Sharp!／小心!］在國際打出名聲。
