原名Nicola James Capaldi

１９６７年，他與 史蒂夫溫伍德（Steve Winwood ）共同創立前衛搖滾樂團 Traffic。

他作為 Traffic 最初陣容的一部分入選搖滾名人堂。

除Traffic樂團活動外，吉姆也發展個人音樂事業．

１９７５年１２月，３１歲的卡帕爾迪推出第三張個人大碟［Short Cut Draw Blood／捷徑抽血］（Island唱片發行）
