父親是默劇與即興演員Richmond Shepard。
以合音歌手開啟音樂事業
１９８７年 芳達夏普（Vonda Shepard）與加拿大歌手丹希爾合唱［Can’t We Try］（Columbia發行）
登上加拿大單曲榜亞軍. 美國單曲榜＃６ 讓她受到歌壇矚目

這回評價不如上一張，商業也下滑, 只登上美國Billboard專輯榜＃６０,
但仍拿下金唱片（５０萬張＋）, 銷售差強人意。

筆者先接觸的１９８９年原版, 覺得是首中規中矩的抒情曲。
後來再聽１９９９年版, 立刻被芳達的歌聲吸引住──
十年的時間讓夏普沙啞的嗓音更成熟, 生活的歷練則使情感愈圓潤飽滿,
［Baby, Dont You Break My Heart Slow］讓我十分動容, 不自覺的重複聆聽,
在芳達的歌聲中, 似乎可以抒發壓抑在心的情緒, 不知這是否我否喜歡此曲的因素之一？
