The title of a pop song "It has never rained in southern California" could be a telltale sign that people would seldom meet raining days here in a sunny state like California.  Of course, people would likewise seldom use windshield wiper when driving.

Yesterday when I drove home, I encountered a shower of rain; subconsciously, I flicked the right-side steering wheel lever upward to move the wiper, no problem.  But when I started driving my wagon today, I found the wiper was on intermittent function, sweeping up and down in every five seconds.  Suddenly, I forgot how to stop that wiper when there were no raindrops at all but annoying sound.  My wife told me leave that stuff alone and concentrate on driving.  I did.

No sooner had I stop the engine, than I got to the car owner’s manual to "study" how to turn the wiper off.  Guess what? The answer is so simple: lower the lever down!

Have I been in my dotage?
