這一本是宋元的歷史。
第一個主題是宋朝的特殊性。
因為唐末五代的軍閥亂政，才會有特殊的重文輕武的政策。
軍事力量的弱小是結構性的問題導致的吧。
第二個主題是文人的地位。
宋朝是文人與皇帝共同治理天下。
甚至有些時候，文官大臣還可要皇帝親征，同時預先立太子。
言官的權力大，老是指著宰相罵，特殊的官場文化。
而文人地位高，卻又有黨爭。
而那個新舊黨爭，很可能不是理念問題，而是年資老的和菜鳥利益衝突造成的對立。
老鳥不想改革，把持權力，菜鳥不甘被老鳥瞎搞，所以鬥個不停。
宋朝的商業與城市發展。
宋朝改變了唐代以來的租庸調的實物與勞役並行稅法。
同時為了避免前朝的問題，政策性防範土地兼併，所以把資本趕去城市的工商投資了。
貨幣經濟萌芽，資本主義萌芽，經濟實力大幅提高。
然後，北宋朝的歲貢養遼國擋金，南宋朝的歲貢養金擋蒙古。
以南養北，是一種另類的分工吧。
這本書裡，傻蛋覺得最有意思的，是唐詞宋詩的這一段。
一般我們都記得的是唐詩宋詞，後面再接元曲和明清小說，考試會考的。
那唐詞宋詩又是甚麼鬼？
其實最早的樂府詩，就是類似民謠那樣的東西。
簡單說就是歌詞啦。
到了唐朝，針對師，加以格式規範，於是大為盛行。
而詩也從詠情小品歌詞，變成可以抒發抱負的高級文學那樣。
但因為有了規範，有些需求就不適合繼續用詩為名了。
所以那所謂的詞，就是詞牌，就是另一種套路規範，用來為可以唱的音樂服務的。
所以，不是宋代才有詞，而是從以前唐代與五代就已經有了，只是到了宋朝才又達到巔峰。
而蘇軾又扮演很特殊的角色，把詞當成是格式不工整的詩，又再把唐詩的那個精神又套進詞裡面了。
變得不適合唱了，不過蘇大才子的文采太好，就又變成唐詩的另類延伸了那樣。
而宋詩，我們多半應該只知道江西詩派黃庭堅，背一背考試能考過那樣而已。
宋朝的詩又是怎麼回事呢？
其實宋朝還是有很多人寫詩，但經典太難創新，大部分主題都有人寫過了，所以宋詩著重在創新。
不只是對仗工整讀起來感覺好就好，還要在裡面有自己的獨創，有打破之前的規矩的小心機之類的，才會被當成好詩。
創新求變的精神是不錯，不過也導致寫詩的難度與壓力大幅提高。
一個名詩人的一生可以留下上萬首詩，後人要怎麼繼續創新下去？
壓力太大了，所以後來明清就很少有以詩聞名的案例了。
宋詞被蘇東坡影響成唐詩的不工整版本後，詞的定位又跑掉了，於是因應市場需求，後來就跑出元曲與戲曲，詞的時代又和詩一樣沒落了。
這一段和前一段講古文運動的脈絡是一致的。
宋朝的時候，還是有駢體文的，華麗的對仗，只重形式不重內容的文體，其實一直都在。
並不是唐朝的韓愈發起古文運動反駢文後古文就變成主流。
韓愈只是異類，是到了宋朝歐陽修這個當到宰相的人提倡古文，古文才比較有市場的。
史學家整理史料後歸納出的文人文化，和我們唸書時背誦內容得到的刻板印象，還是有相當的差異的。
所以我們唸書時讀的歷史，除了死背背多分之外，無法提供思考邏輯的推理用途，而通史會從前面的理解而有利於理解後面的演變，這個歷史真的的用途，只能靠緣分自己去學了。
這一冊最後一段是遊牧民族朝代與蒙古的崛起。
一個重點是，蒙古打趴了當時的西域文化，並產生破壞性的影響。
這讓中國過去可以源源不絕的從中亞輸入新文化的管道被破壞了。
以至於後來明清兩代，中國會有天朝上國以中國為世界中心的封閉意識吧。
只有北方蠻族，和中原華夏，只要一統中原且能北拒蠻夷，就可以千秋萬世那樣的迷思。
這是很有意思的觀點。
保持文化的多元性是很重要的，保持開放的態度會是有益於健康的，是這樣吧？

Imagine the emperor as the animatronics, and the scholars as the security guards trying to maintain order. These officials even dared to advise the emperor and designate an heir.
