VOCABULARY JOURNAL:

destination

definition:  a place to which a person is going or something is being sent

use the word in a sentence: After stopping for lunch, we continued on toward our destination.

root: di/s- apart, away  ex: digression, subject, disappear

violent

definition: using or involving the use of physical force to cause harm or damage to someone or something : showing violence

use the word in a sentence: They witnessed a violent struggle between police and protesters.

ferry

definition:  to carry or move (someone or something) on a vehicle (such as a boat or a car) usually for a short distance between two places

use the word in a sentence: The cars were ferried across the river.

depth

definition:  the perpendicular measurement downward from a surface

use the word in a sentence: These fish typically live at depths of 500 feet or more.

profound

definition: having or showing great knowledge or understanding

use the word in a sentence: His knowledge of history is profound.

root: pro- before, forward, in front of   ex: prognosis,  prologue, prophet 
cordial

definition: politely pleasant and friendly

register

definition: to record information about (something) in a book or system of public records

deliberate

definition: to think about or discuss something very carefully in order to make a decision

delivery

definition: the act of taking something to a person or place

definition:  an agreement that you make with a company to get a publication or service regularly and that you usually pay for in advance

definition: strange or scary : causing people to feel nervous and afraid

 definition:  pleasantly thin, dry, and easily broken : having a pleasantly crisp outer layer

definition:  to write or cut (words, a name, etc.) on something

definition: very similar and often happening at the same time

definition:  something (such as an interesting fact or event) that can be observed and studied and that typically is unusual or difficult to understand or explain fully

definition: 1.the act or an instance of setting in operation or motion 2. a fledgling business enterprise
