前言：這是一首用數學語言寫的情詩。當時我正在學時間序列分析，特別鍾情於混沌理論，遂用它的詞彙為它寫了這首詩。後來，我寫了一個作時間序列分析的電腦程式，並把這首詩密藏在程式代碼中。相片中如蝶翼的圖形是混沌狀態中的羅倫茲吸子(Lorenz Attractor)；它是最廣為人知的所謂「奇異吸子」(strange attractors)之一。

Stretching and folding, weaving

An infinitely deep cosmos

Down, down, down, I fall

Into the regime of chaos

It was all because of the butterfly

Flapping wings to throw a kiss

That I started bifurcating

Suddenly, at every frequency of the power spectrum

I began quasi-periodically oscillating

Shall we converge? Shall we diverge? Whither

The destiny of this deterministic trip?

When the iterations stop

We shall have left our loci
