You can see the terrifying trench war of WWI, particularly in the western front, though no bloody killings were illustrated.
Dunkirk tells that famous evacuation in WWII. It also demonstrates that sometimes a successful retreat in a battle is a great gain for future victory. But the similar case will not be applicable to Taiwan in case of the conflict taking place between the strait because the people of Taiwan have no way to run.
