眾芳搖落獨暄妍， All blooms have fallen, yet she stands alone, bright and fair,

占盡風情向小園。Claiming all the charm within the little garden there.

疏影橫斜水清淺， Her sparse shadows slant across the shallow, limpid stream;

暗香浮動月黃昏。Her secret fragrance drifts about beneath the moon in the gloaming.

霜禽欲下先偷眼， The white egret, about to land, but first steals a furtive glance;

粉蝶如知合斷魂。The powdery butterfly, if it but knew, would surely swoon in trance.
幸有微吟可相狎， To keep her company, luckily I have soft verses,

不須檀板共金樽. Need no instruments to match golden goblets.
