After spending two nights and three days in Wuyisan, we returned to Xiamen by high-speed railway. Unlike the one we took from Fuzhou to Wuyisan at a speed as fast as approaching 300 km per hour, this time the train was slower at an average speed of 250 km, and it was comfortable partly because we upgraded ourselves to the business class. 

In the afternoon at Xiamen, after lunch, we proceeded to take the Gu Lang Yu Ferry to visit that renowned islet, a tourism mecca. When we arrived, I proposed to visit the memorial hall of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi first, instead of riding the originally scheduled battery car to tour the whole island. The local tour guide accepted my proposal and took us to the place.

Dr. Lin, a native of Gu Lang Yu, is well known as the "mother of ten thousand newborn babies." She is the first obstetrician of modern medicine in China, having delivered over fifty thousand babies in her 82 years in this world, including the father of hybrid rice, Mr. Yuan Longpin. This is why I opted to pay tribute to her during the tour on the island.
