1. Introduction to helical planetary gearboxes
A helical planetary gearbox is a mechanical transmission system composed of a planetary gear mechanism and helical gears. The core lies in the layout of the planetary gears. The central sun gear is surrounded by multiple planetary gears, and the outer side of the planetary gears is wrapped with an annular gear ring, and all gear axes remain parallel. The characteristic of the helical gear is that the tooth shape is inclined at an angle to the axis, and the common angle range is between 15 and 30 degrees. This design makes the gear meshing process more coherent and effectively reduces the operating noise. 1.
2. Working principle of helical planetary gearboxes
The working principle of the helical planetary gearbox is based on the layout of the planetary gears and the meshing characteristics of the helical gears. When the motor drives the sun gear to rotate, the planetary gear generates a reaction force during the self-rotation process, pushing the planet carrier to start rotating. The unique meshing method of the helical gears causes an axial component force to exist at each contact point, and this force is transmitted to the output shaft through the planet carrier. 1. Transmission stability and low noise: The helical gears are arranged at a helical angle with the axis to achieve progressive meshing, with a high overlap, which can effectively reduce the single tooth load and suppress vibration and noise, making the transmission smoother and the noise lower.
2. High load capacity and high efficiency: The helical angle design of the helical gear makes it have a stronger load capacity and higher transmission efficiency. The accuracy of the helical planetary reducer is generally higher, with a primary accuracy of about 5 arc minutes and a maximum of 1 arc minute, while the accuracy of the spur planetary reducer is generally about 10 arc minutes and a maximum of 6 arc minutes.
3. Compact structure and high power density: The planetary gear mechanism consists of a central sun gear, circumferentially evenly distributed planetary gears and an outer inner gear ring. Multiple planetary gears are connected as a whole through a planet carrier to achieve power diversion and torque superposition, with advantages such as high power density and a wide range of transmission ratios.
4. Multi-directional input and output: Due to the presence of a planet carrier in the planetary gear mechanism, power can be input and output in multiple directions. Through devices such as clutches or brakes, the rotation of a certain axis can be flexibly limited when necessary to achieve transmission of only two axes.
5. Torque amplification and speed change function: The planetary gear mechanism can achieve torque amplification and speed change functions through the synergistic effect of the sun gear, planetary gears and inner gear ring. By fixing the planet carrier or inner gear ring, the transmission direction can be changed to achieve deceleration or speed increase transmission.

4. Precautions for installation of helical planetary gearbox
1. Preparation and inspection before installation: Before installation, make sure that all tools and parts are ready, including suitable wrenches, torque wrenches, gear oil, seals, and new gear assemblies.
2. Selection of installation location: The helical planetary gearbox should be installed on a horizontal and stable foundation, ensuring that the base has sufficient strength to withstand the force and remain stable. The base must be stable and able to resist twisting forces and vibrations to ensure the safe operation of the gearbox.
3. Cleaning and lubrication: Before installation, use a special cleaner to remove the anti-rust coating on the shaft and mounting surface, and make sure that the cleaner does not contact the shaft sealing ring. Select a suitable lubricant or grease, and add an appropriate amount of lubricant according to the instructions.
4. Centering and tightening: Use a level to adjust the level of the gearbox, with an error of no more than ±0.1mm/m. The coaxiality deviation of the drive shaft must be less than the coupling compensation (usually ≤0.1mm). When tightening the bolts, tighten them step by step in a diagonal order and strictly follow the torque value provided by the manufacturer.
5. Selection of fixing method and coupling: The helical planetary reducer should be installed on a horizontal foundation to ensure that the oil in the drain tank can be drained and the cooling air circulates smoothly. It is not recommended to use a rigid fixed coupling because it is difficult to install and easily increases the load, resulting in damage to the bearings and gears.
6. Preparation and testing before operation: Before operation, check the oil level and add an appropriate amount of lubricating oil. Run the machine without load for at least 2 hours, listen for abnormal sounds and vibrations, and use an infrared thermometer to monitor the bearing temperature (temperature rise ≤45℃).
7. Temperature monitoring and safety measures: Pay close attention to temperature changes during use. It is recommended to equip it with a temperature monitoring device so that an alarm message can be output in time when the maximum allowable oil pool temperature is reached. Once the maximum allowable oil pool temperature is exceeded, immediate action must be taken to shut down the drive components to ensure the safety of the gearbox.
