It it at this table where the kids get a fresh start in the morning physically and spiritually before they head out to school. I would share a word or two with them from the our daily devotional, remind them what's going on today, pray with them and send them off to school. After I come back, this table becomes my work place. It's where I make family plans, schedule doctor's appointments, confirm sports games and play dates, do my Bible study homework, write my blogs, make phone calls and ...etc.
The table is never neat and clean because there are always on-going, unfinished projects lying on the table. Books opened, pieces of drawn paper here and there. My big laptop, coffee mugs, magazines, newspapers, and markers everywhere. My husband finally bought a big basket and just threw everything in it. We still have tons of stuff on the table, but "at least, it looks nicer!" as my husband said.
At dinner time, the table becomes a place where the girls share what happened at school during the day. When grandpas and grandmas come to visit(they do occasionally visit at the same time), the dinner table turns into this big feast of celebration where the grandpas share their life experiences, reminisce the good-old days while grandmas and mommy keep going back and forth busily putting plates on the table. Interesting conversations as well as heated discussions are generated around the table. Love is shared through tears and laughter. So much of my life is made up of these precious little moments at the table.
What I like the most is on Sunday mornings when we don't need to rush out to school. The girls and I, all in our PJs, would do nothing else and just read at the breakfast table. I would take a longer time telling them a story that I had read from the Bible or an experience that I encountered that had changed my thinking that I think would be beneficial to their spiritual growth. This is the time I try to imagine Jesus sitting at our breakfast table telling us stories.
So often we get wrapped up in the midst of our daily busyiness and forget to just be with God. But carving out a space to sit with God at the breakfast table and listening to God's story isn't all that hard. All it takes is a genuine heart attitude and an eagerness to invite His presence into our daily lives.
I try to do that every morning at my breakfast table and He never disappoints me.

Wow, it is an incredible, magical table, its a spiritual home for all the family members, especially with Mommy's smile and God's presence. I can also see what a wonderful mother you have been with such wisdom. I think everyone in the family must appreciate God's blessing, feel their belongingness and supports from each other when they are around the table.
